After a few years of seeing the success of the tea party, you’d think that the GOP would see the value of it. Perhaps even begin to drift toward more-conservative policies. Heck, the overwhelming victories in 2010 should be a clear indicator of the power of “tea party” type support. But recent events tell a much different story, that your opinions and values don’t really matter…that you are are being taken for granted. This is not some emotional assertion; rather this is based on direct observation of events.
Many of you may not be aware of the delegate and convention rules shenanigans that just took place during the republican convention. Below I will list several links/articles about what is reported to have happened during the convention, as well as a few links that indicate how the GOP views your values/opinion. Although I have not exhaustively vetted all of the material presented, much of it comes from sources I trust or is direct video evidence.
The most egregious event that transpired during the convention was a rules change that would dramatically limit the influence that the grassroots could exert in the convention process. Morton Blackwell provides a summary and commentary:

Michelle Malkin provides a recap of the events during the convention. If you read no other links, read this one:

There were also reports that the entire event was scripted, and that the outcome had been preordained. Why even construct the nomination sideshow if it didn’t matter? Why waste everyone’s time, and considerable money?

Additionally, some recent commentary (or lack thereof) provides a glimpse into the minds of the GOP leadership.
Was there a memo released to agree to not mention the tea party *at all* during the convention?
Would you have expected that the tea party wouldn’t even be mentioned, essentially? It’s almost as if the GOP is embarrassed by you. In the face of the withering attacks against the tea party that we all had to endure, the GOP could have stood up for us…could have defended us loudly and proudly. Could have used that momentum to champion our conservative principles. But no…we find ourselves now in a situation where the GOP will not even speak our name publicly, lest they be tarnished with our “extreme” ideas. Could it be that the GOP just wants us to shut up, work as community activists, and then vote for their favored candidates?
Let’s not forget Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives John Boehner’s recent comments about people who were against the TARP bailout.

I thought the way the rules were changed was totally outrageous. This election our choices are very limited, but if the Republicans choose to ignore our core beliefs and continue down a path of destruction of this country, I foresee the beginnings of a very strong 3rd Party led by the Tea Party and it’s many supporters. The Republican Party needs the Conservatives, Conservatives do not need the Republican party!
This is what happens when white people can’t vote. It’s almost like a voter ID law was passed.
Ron Paul supporters are goofy and RP turned me off with his foreign policy, but the man is correct. Reading his books is not the answer either. Ron Paul winning the election would not have made any difference either unless the American people knew enough about history to also elect enough Libertarians to overhaul Congress. To learn History, stay away from historians, and don’t rely on Mark Levin or any other Conservative Hero because I’ve read them all and listened to Levin and Rush for 6hrs a day/4yrs. They bailed on us on the Birther issue, and Glenn Beck does a “Southern hick accent” when he bashes birthers. Ron Paul speaks at Confederate rallies because he knows the South was right and if you don’t, you are just like me 4 months ago. Americas true history, makes Obama look like Ronald Reagan. The Fact that the South never owned a slave ship and our national Anthem being written by a socialist, is just a crumb. The historical bombshells will alter your life. The fact that more white slaves were sold during the first 50 years of the slave trade, is just a minor story. You will have nothing but pride for your Southern Heritage and disdain for those that smeared it to cover their crimes. You will never again let someone throw the Klan in your face, and if our founding fathers were here today, they would only show allegiance to the Confederate flag. America’s history has been stolen and the South has been made the scapegoat. Most Northerners stood by us, but we all felt the wrath of a hostile takeover that forever changed our federalist-republic and economic system. We have hoodwinked and both parties keep the scam going today.
A 3rd Party is the only answer! The Republicans do not WANT to reform, they want to compromise and maintain power. They have abused the TEA Party because they know they can and TEA Party members will still vote for them (cause conservatives think there’s no other choice). I’m voting Constitution Party. If you look at their platform at Constitutionparty.com, you’ll see that their platform is almost exactly in line with the TEA Party’s “15 Non-negotiables” on the national web site. Ron Paul blew it by thinking he could reform the GOP from the inside. It can’t be done. Libertarians are liberals in social matters, such as abortion and gay “marriage.” Conservatives won’t go for that. The Constitution Party needs to replace the tired, corrupt, unconstitutional GOP. Constitution Party meeting, Tues., Sep 11, at 7pm, Midlothian Library.
