Message from 8/28

I have been asked by many who knew I went to the rally on 8/28, what was said, what was the message, who spoke? I have had a couple of days to think about the message and I have come to the conclusion that there were many messages wrapped up in one rally. Many messages directed at many different groups. I am not going to re-iterate who said what or what the message contained, most of you have probably seen or heard the rally by now. Instead, I am going to focus on what I took away and what I think it means for our country and citizens. The message that was presented to the audience was a strong one and had a life changing impact. Not only for those present but for those who weren’t present. For those who are trying to fundamentally change our country and therefore the world, your lives and your fight just got a lot harder. As Thomas Jefferson stated “It is a part of the American character to consider nothing as desperate, to surmount every difficulty by resolution and contrivance.” We are Americans. We are the people who brought freedom to the world and we will be the ones to maintain freedom for the world. We have seen that our soft lives have led to our current situation and are ready to remedy the situation by whatever means necessary. The message to Congress is this: we are no longer concerned what the letter beside your name reads, we are judging you by your “content of character.” What is your voting record? What is your behavior outside of office? (If you will cheat your very own family or friends then you will probably not think twice about cheating a nameless faceless Joe Q. Public) Who do you surround yourself with? These are the things that we are going to be looking for from now on. The message I took away is this: No compromise. This goes back to the last post I made when I stated how dangerous compromise can be and now I see that I was a part of that problem. When it comes to choosing in the future, whether is be a vote for Congress, the PTA or HOA board I am done choosing the lesser of two evils, that’s how we got into the mess we’re in. Only people who represent my values and ideals deserve my vote and they will be the only ones to get it. I don’t care if my guy is a long-shot, I am no longer compromising my voice. As Beck stated on Saturday, finding God and living his principles is the most freedom you will experience but it does not mean it will not be uncomfortable. Having values means sticking to them even when it hurts.
