Richmond Tea Party, Inc. is a non-partisan, grassroots community established to advance and strengthen the Founding principle that life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are God-given rights guaranteed to every individual by the Constitutions of the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia. We believe that government derives its power from the people and is established solely to protect these rights. The core principles of limited government, fiscal restraint, personal responsibility, and governing with virtue and accountability are all necessary to ensure the preservation of our freedom. We believe that local governments, communities, and individuals are best suited to serve and represent the needs of the people. Most importantly, we believe that citizen participation in the political process is a fundamental necessity for good government.
“I implore you to NOT vote for the Senate version of the Health Care Reform bill. IF you are truly for BIPARTISAN health care reform and IF you are truly listening to and representing the wishes of your contituents then you will not vote to use reconciliation as the means to ram this issue down the throats of the american people. Polls all across the spectrum consistently show that WE DO NOT WANT THIS. Please scrap this bill and start over with your republican colleagues and come up with a good-faith health care reform bill that the american people can live with, but we definitely DO NOT WANT A GOVERNMENT TAKE OVER OF OUR HEALTH CARE.”
Donald W. Parr, Jr.

PLEASE, support the Majority of Americans and certainly your own constituents and vote AGAINST this option to force Healthcare down our throats. You know less than 23% of Americans support this bill.
Healthcare needs fixing, but it must truely be Bi-partisan, not rammed down our throats by Pelosi.
If you insist on supporting the party on this one, you are signing your own political demise. WE WILL REMEMBER !!!!!
Bill G.
Richmond, VA
THIS WAS SENT TO BOTH SENATORS ON FRIDAY, FEB. 26:
We are not in favor of the healthcare bill as it is currently written (the Senate plan nor the President’s plan). They are both much too costly and cumbersome. The federal government does not have a very good track record of efficiency or fiscal responsibility. A plan this size will not only spell disaster it truly fails to accomplish it’s main purpose of lowering costs.
Poll after poll shows that the American people are opposed to this plan and would like legislators to start over. It seems that the party in power is intent on digging their heals in and getting their own way regardless of the desires of their constituents. This will be at the political peril of this party. Should this plan be PUSHED through with little regard to the overwhelming desires of the American people, we personally will do everything we can to campaign AGAINST those who voted in favor of it.
THIS WAS SENT TO BOTH SENATORS ON MONDAY, MAR. 1
We IMPLORE you to LISTEN to the AMERICAN PEOPLE. The majority of the people DO NOT want the Health Care Bill as currently written to move forward. We pray that you will not vote in favor of this in the face of such strong objection. We cannot express the mounting frustration the American people are experiencing caused by the continued complete disregard for it’s opinion. PLEASE START OVER AND GO SMALLER!
I hope to continue sending letters if not daily then at least on a regular basis until our voice is heard!!!
Pam L.
Dear Senator, Congress and the Obama administration now appear ready to attempt to use the reconciliation process to pass healthcare reform. In townhall meetings, with emails, letters and phone calls, through various polling data, and perhaps most importantly, with the special Senate election in Massachusetts (of all places), the American public has made it plain that we do not want either the House or the Senate bills. To frustrate the clear will of the People by jamming this legislation through via reconciliation would be unconscionable. I urge you to oppose this effort. We will not forget this vote. Sincerely,
This may be the last time I am able to appeal to you and your sensibilities before a critical vote on an issue that, in my opinion, has the weight of the future of our Country upon it. This is not to mention millions of lives that will effected by the consequences of increasing Government involvement in Health Care.
I have indicated to you that I have much experience in this area and insight few other Physicians have because of my world experience. I am not however going to argue my point on that basis.
I am simply going to point out that the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, has spoken and in essence stated that this bill “will pass” and instructed Congress that concerns for individual political viability will not stand in the way. I take this to mean there will be “sacrificial lambs” to get this done.
I have no doubt, if you do not stand up now and oppose this you will be voted out of office in November. This is however not the level to which I am appealing to you again for this is self focused. I rather appeal to your sense of our heritage as Americans and request that ask yourself a simple question. Knowing that the majority of Americans do not what this and you know we do not, is this the Representative form of Government that our founders established or is this something quite different?
Please take a stand for our Country and our Liberty. You have the opportunity to be proud that, in the face of adversity, you chose to act on the principles upon which we were founded and if America should fail it is divine providence and you did not assist in her demise. I am not speaking if Health care reform or lack of it will save or hurt our Country. I am saying that if we do not have a Representative form of Government then as Franklin feared our Republic is lost. Please trust what your I know your sensibilities are telling you; reconciliation to get this “ Health Care Bill” to pass is wrong.
V/R
Lt Col David
Polls consistently show that a majority of Virginians do not want the House or Senate Health Care bill to pass. Also, most people I know reflect the same idea as the polls. I do not even know one person who wants this to pass if you want to know the truth about it. Please do not vote for this Health Care reform bill. Reconciliation is not wanted. We do not need another entitlement plan that we can not afford. Most Americans understand this is not affordable, and we would rather the effort be placed on fixing all the other broke entitlement plans out there. Please respect our pocketbooks, our children, our constitution, and the will of the American people!
Respectfully,
Marcus
We the People have spoken loudly across this great Nation. We are not deceived. The proposed health care legislation is not reform. It is to TRANSFORM….an attempt to transform this great Nation from one of great liberties and freedoms to one of government control.
We are tired of the arrogance, the corruption, the spending and the power grabbing. If you still did not get the picture from the Virginia and New Jersey vote last November, as well as in Massachusetts, we can assure you that you will awaken come the elections next fall. Life in the senate may not remain the same for you.
Vote NO against any fabricated health care bill. It is time to stop with the political games.
Sincerely,
Lonnie and Linda S.
Senator Warner,
I have written you many times before, but here I am again. I know Pelosi is trying to force this bill through Congress … this is wrong. The Federal government has proven how inept it is by the poor handling of our Veterans Hospitals, and now you want us to believe that you are going to do a better job with the entire country. Sir, this is wrong, and the majority of the people in this country DON’T WANT IT. You are suppose to represent the will of the people, and our will is for you to vote NO to this terrible bill. And not only is the bill terrible, but the timing is absolutely insane. We are broke … this country is bankrupt, and you people up there are just spending more and more money like it doesn’t matter. We can’t afford it. I know you legislators think you are exempt from having to show responsibility when it comes to finances, after all, you can just print more, huh? We average citizens don’t have that luxury.
Additionally, I am angered beyond belief that you servants of the people think you should exempt yourself from the programs. Evidently, you believe that you are better than us, so you should have a better plan than we can get, and that you shouldn’t have to abide by this bill. Talk about hypocritical … Do you believe you deserve better than my mom or my dad who pay your salary? Evidently you do.
Lastly, what Ms. Pelosi is attempting to do is illegal. You cannot order people to purchase something they do not want with money that they worked their butts off to earn. This is totally unconstitutional. How can you stand there having sword an oath to uphold The Constitution of this country, and continue to vote for illegal bills? You sir, like so many of our “privileged” representatives, are committing treason against The United States of America. You really need to understand that. The voters in this state are watching you, and we see the treasonous laws that are being supported by you and so many other members of Congress. If you have any hopes of retaining your seat in the next election, I would suggest that you start listening to the will of the people. I don’t care what Ms. Pelosi wants, and I don’t care what Mr. Obama wants … they are servants just like you are. Hear this, WE DO NOT WANT THIS BILL. Please rethink your position and vote according to the will of the people that elected you. Here in Virginia, we are already working to exempt Virginia out of this bill … doesn’t that tell you something? Where is your honor? If you are not there to serve the will of the people, then could you please tell me just who you are there to serve?
Sincerely,
Tamera
Dear Senator, 3/2/10
I am writing to you, YET AGAIN, to express my opposition to Harry Reid’s and Nancy Pelosi’s socialization of our healthcare system. Furthermore, I am disgusted by their deceptive courses of action in expediting their healthcare reform plan. Their underhanded tactics and comments are an insult to pro-life Americans, seniors and fiscal conservatives.
Government-run health care is wrong for our economy. It is wrong for our health care system. It is morally wrong in that it will force pro-life citizens to fund and support abortion.
I urge you to oppose this trillion-dollar government-run health care that includes any version of the so-called “public option, “an individual mandate to purchase health insurance or government funding of abortion.
The healthcare system does need an overhaul, let’s try 3 things:
1 –Tort reform so that doctors do not have to pay huge malpractice insurance premiums, which will reduce the cost of healthcare.
2 – Allow interstate insurance purchasing, competition will lower costs for all Americans.
3 – Government employees, ALL OF THEM, you included, must be covered by this insurance.
I am DISGUSTED at the Chicago-style (Obama Style) of underhanded, manipulative, corrupt legislative tactics that have gotten this bill as far as it has gotten. Wake up and smell the coffee – Obama, Reid and Pelosi are SOCIALISTS!
Sincerely,
Barbara C.
Senator,
As your Democrat leadership continues to drive your party off the cliff and ram a partisan health care bill through Congress against the will of the American people, you are faced with a choice.
Until this point, your voting record on health care issues clearly shows that you have marched in lockstep with your Democrat leaders in the Senate and President Obama. Despite your perceived label as a “centrist” or “moderate” Democrat, your voting record shows you to be simply a tool of your liberal Democrat leaders. They have led you around by the nose and they are now telling you to march, even quicker, toward the political abyss. Based on your votes so far on this issue, your Senatorial career will most likely end with your next election. You see Senator, the constituents in the Commonwealth you claim to represent, have very long memories.
Devious plans are currently underway, behind closed doors, to ram this partisan bill through using reconciliation. This bill does nothing to lower costs. This bill imposes never before seen “mandates” on individuals and small businesses. This bill increases taxes by $500 billion and cuts Medicare by $500 billion. This bill uses budget trickery to show that it is “revenue neutral”. This bill confiscates not only private sector wealth, but even more importantly, it confiscates greater and greater portions of our liberty and our freedom.
You have one final choice. If you are forced by your leadership and President Obama to vote on this bill using reconciliation, against the explicit will of your constituents, you can simply say “NO”. Saying “NO” and actually representing the will of the constituents you serve will still not likely save your job. However, it at least gives you one last opportunity to attempt to rebuild your reputation, but more importantly, it gives you one last opportunity to defend the Constitution that you swore to defend and protect.
We will be watching how you vote Senator.
Chris
Listen to the citizens of Virginia! The health care bill that is poised to be passed by the House and Senate is NOT the government control we want in our lives. This is not health care reform, it is a contract for health care that controls, limits options and rights and will cost us dearly in terms of increasing financial burdens and institutionalizing of a major sector of our economy. By voting for this bill, you will be forcing small businesses and individuals to have decisions made by the federal government when history shows how poorly managed, over run and in debt programs are that the federal government attempts to operate.
You are obligated as a elected member of the Senate voted in by your constituency to vote as the citizens are urging…which is a resounding NO for this health care bill.
L. Morgan
I have always had high regards for you Senator Warner as a business man. I would hope everything you have learned from starting your own business and growing it and becoming very wealthy you would know how capitalism works here in the United States. I cannot believe for one minute that you agree with this country turning to socialized medicine can be a good thing. Please listen to your constituents when you cast your vote for healthcare. Virginia does not want it. Use your business savvy to make a name for yourself and help come up with a plan that will promote jobs in the private sector, allow insurance companies to sell across state borders to increase competition. Also you know as well as I do we need tort reform in this country. Malpractice is the biggest expense a Doctor faces. That money could be put toward taking care of the uninsured. Senator Warner vote with the people of Virginia and not with the party line. This is not Democrat vs Republican. It is about our constitution and what this country was founded on and what brought you to where you are today. Without it you would be just like me struggling everyday to pay the bills. Do not make that struggle tougher. We the people need to take care of ourselves without big government just like you did. Thank you for your support. Lisa
A majority of Virginians do not want the House or Senate Health Care bill to pass in Congress.
Do not vote for this Health Care conference bill. This is a complete violation of our basic rights when you force Virginians to enter into a contract for health insurance. Your constituency is sending you a strong, direct message – don?t participate in a reconciliation vote. We are tired of being ignored. Respect the Constitution and the will of the people. Virginians wait to see how you will vote. Redeem yourself.
Bill H.
We The People are speaking to you through polls that consistently
indicate the majority of Virginians do not want the House or Senate
Health Care Bill to be passed by Congress. Respectfully, I am asking
that you refrain from supporting and/or voting for this Health Care
Conference Bill.
The Virginia General Assembly has heard us and has passed
legislation to thwart the unconstitutional actions of Congress. Please
do not force your fellow Virginians to enter into a contract of health
care insurance that would be a complete violation of our basic rights.
Listen to your constituency; a reconciliation vote will be all we can
tolerate, the proverbial straw that broke the camels back for your
Virginia constituency.
Please show respect for the Constitution and the will of your
constituency. Virginia Will be waiting to see how you vote.
Ron B.
Senators Warner and Webb,
Please vote “No” on ANY votes related to the Health Care Reform legislation (so called ObamaCare). Vote “No” on any item that would allow a simple 51 vote majority to pass this legislation.
There are many parts of the legislation in the House and Senate bills, as well as in the President’s proposal, that are unconstitutional.
I must remind you, sir, that when you took your oath of office, you took an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States. If you vote yes in any way, shape, or form on this legislation, you will be denying your oath. Doing so will be grounds for impeachment due to treason, which under our laws is subject to death by firing squad.
Your actions are being carefully watched. You were elected to represent the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia. We do not want this legislation!
VOTE “NO” on all matters related to Health Care Reform!
Robert D
Please do not vote for this Health Care conference bill. I’m sure you must be aware of all the polls which consistently show that a majority of Virginians do not want the House or Senate Health Care bill to pass in Congress. It is unconscionable that you should have the right to imprison Virginias by forcing us to enter a contract for health care. This is a violation of the Virginia General Assemblies legislation passed to thwart this unconstitutional action of a Congress that not longer listens to it’s constituency. A reconciliation vote will absolutely be the last straw for Virginians. We are tired of being ignored and our awareness of the end games you might be attempting only supports your true servitude to a party and not the citizens of this republic. Respect the Constitution and the will of the people.
“Health is wealth” is known to all and everyone wants good health. That means no one wants to leave this wealth. So, Let us build a food habit discipline, keep pace with work, rest and or exercise to Achieve good health, The ultimate wealth.
Vote No Senator Warner….I know you feel you have about 4 years 8 months to go for re-election, but we will not forget. Many of us have to buy our healthcare and do not qualify for subsidies (which we wouldn’t take anyway) and the CBO has already stated that Individual Policies will go up a minimum of 15% the first year. Adding that to tax increases, our families will go broke. I promise you faithfully, Sir, if you vote yes…I will personally spend every waking moment in your re-election to campaign “For The Other Guy”! Our economy is already on the brink and if you believe that this will reduce the deficit then you have NO PLACE in the US Senate representing Virginia, Sir. Rethink this, Senator…Virginians are watching and waiting.
